80's Toy Show Preview

I doubt a lot of people remember what a Roller Racer is. Hell, everyone that does know is like 30+ in age.
Roller Racers in the 80's where made by WHAMMO! and you basically move yourself by moving the handles back n forth, and it propels you forward. I remember in Elementry school gym class when I lived in Rome, we had games involving these.

So to challenge myself, I chose to do an obscure toy, rather then my original idea of He-Man or Transformer figures. To make it interesting, I decided to try the Ed Roth style again. I did something with it during my Sophomore year of College, but I wasn't too happy about it. Below is the resulting preview.

A decade worth a bad movies made hilarious. Even though it started in 1989, it predominately had a good run from 1990 to 1999.

I made these this evening, as a break from doing Carnivale de Robotique work, and as a submission to the Autumn Society's 90's Show this June. The coldpress watercolor paper I still can't figure out, but I like the little bit of uncertainty it adds when it bleeds a tiny bit.

Issue #2 is complete

After a two and half months (The half due to me accidently using water soluble inks on 5 pages, and a terrible week long power outage that prevented me from doing much work), the art for Carnivale de Robotique Issue #2 is finally done. All that remains is the lettering, and that'll be it.
One of the good things that came out of the past few days, is that I found a sort of style of digital painting that I feel okay with, and will probably experiment more with when I get the chance.

Robotique and beyond

Some of you guys already know, but I've been working on a 2nd (and then a 3rd, and then a 4th) issue of "Carnivale de Robotique" for the past month and half.
That means new characters, new adventures, and same old shenanigans.

I'll get the ball rolling with the new antagonist character designs:

Manstrong, Festival Maximus' elastic strongman. Frankie says RELAX!
