Quick Doodle (1 of 2)

I saw someone with a Halloween costume similar to this somewhere in Philly.
Like the Care Bears went through Hell and back or something.

Quick Doodle (2 of 2)

Super Mario Land on the GameBoy was, and will always be, a royal pain in the ass for me.

First ELY Thumbnail sketch

The first thumbnail sketch of the first ELY piece.
A Robot-Repairs shop, with a middle eastern motif. I think kids need to be more aware that this kind of thing can be found almost anywhere in the world.

My senior thesis is a kid's book about the crazy futuristic jobs from the universe of characters I've uh, dunno, invented.

Text Drawings

I get really bored in my Fiction Writing class too easily, and have been developing a tendency to write down or draw whatever comes to mind, no matter how absurd.

I guess I can call these "Text Drawings".

Maxwell C. Walker

For my third assignment for my Senior Illustration class, I chose to make a biographical video game manual. The western theme came about when I was trying to narrow down my ideas: The fantasy aspect of RPGs has been done to death and back, and kid theme RPGs like Earthbound seem to be popping up all over now. The one thing that got me thinking, was that besides in the table top RPG realm, there's hardly any Western theme ones (Well, if you count the Wild Arms series, but it took them them until the last half of the 2nd game to get the western part right. But even then, they ended up making it more futuristic in the 4th, and the 5th one has too many JRPG and Fantasy elements, and little Western elements, as if the producers forgot what the hell they're doing now. Consistency people!) Okay, enough ranting, heres what I came up with.

A young boy about 13 years in age, Max has always had aspirations of becoming a great Vagabond like his father. Self-trained with revolvers by watching his dad, and despite his small stature, he can hold his own, but can be timid at times. Since Max is small and agile, he can easily dodge attacks from larger enemies, and take down aerial monsters with great accuracy. After the disappearance of his father a few years prior, he sets off into the desert wasteland with his sister in hopes he can find any clues as to what happened to him.

Annabelle Walker

Maxwell's dear older sister. After the death of their mother, and disappearance of their father, Annabelle felt it was her duty to take over as Maxwell's caretaker. For 10 years of her life, Anna lived in a Monastery studying magic, which is a lost art in the desert wastelands, and through her studies and training, has become a valuable asset for the team, taking down the strongest of monsters with ease. Anna uses a set of Derringers and a large Grimoire left behind by her mother, and is not shy to use them on men who dare to hit on her.

I'm also not too great with drawing females. Its a bane of mine I've always experienced. Though some girls I know can't draw guys right. Go figure.

Free Range Cactus

A common site in the desert lands of the world, these little cactus creatures roam the land in search of water. Though docile in appearance and nature, they will attack if provoked, and can fire their needles much like a gunslinger would with a gun. They also use their cute appearance to their advantage, stealing from travelers who aren't sure of their surroundings. Some have also taken to hopping around in ceramic pots; where they get them, no one knows. Much like are canine and feline friends, people have come to domesticate these little guys, so its not a rare site to see one in someone's home.

Great Sand Turtle

A strain of giant turtles that have learned to evolve and thrive in the desert lands. Hardy and tough, these creatures can withstand even the most harshest of sandstorms and dry spells. Many a traveller have spun tales of traveling herds of these beasts as 'roaming deserts', which is such a rare site to be seen. Though a tad slow in their movements, they can be powerhouses in combat, with their jaws that can snap large tree trunks with ease, and tough to fell with their humungous shells.

A Moment of Clarity

Cross posting from Jimmy's one-a-day comic blog Ink Answer, a one panel comic that come about accidently during my Etching class today. The kind of thought has always crossed your mind at some point, but how many where in such a critical or messed up situation?

MAP

The idea behind this, was that I spread out a wash of blue, then dripped green onto it, and watched it spread about the paper, forming little 'islands'. This is the end result.

Beer Coasters

For Megan's Senior Portfolio class, we had to make and design beer coasters. And if you know me, I loves beers.
(Seriously, a six back of Asahi, and you've got my heart.)
For my theme, I chose to do Science Fiction characters from dystopian futures (Except for Picard, he's just an innocent bystander to the whole thing unfolding before him.)

Korban Dallas

Judge Joseph Dredd

Mad Max

Logan 5

Jean-Luc Picard

Persona

If you've played the most recent Persona game (The 3rd one in the series), you'll notice that all the characters in the game shoot themselves in face in order to summon mythological entities to fight for them.
Theres more video game influenced violence among kids, yet this one passes under Jack Thompson's nose.
Anyways, this is more like a mockery then anything political. The game is awesome.

Coelacanth

Just a stylized Coelacanth drawing. I thought these things looked pretty funny, and it was fun to draw.

Watercolor & Pencil on Arches Watercolor Paper

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

I did a series of drawings Sophomore year of the cast of Lupin the 3rd for a stamp project.
I happened to make an extra drawing that I didn't have time to finish, and I ended up putting it away for a rainy day.
It rained today. You do the math.

This is a scene from the opening of "Dead or Alive", where in the Trio is searching for a fabled hiding spot of a late King's treasure. They're also in a gyro-copter, which is something I wished I had.
(My parent's scanner is all I have to work with, I'm sorry in advance.
I plan on rescaning everything I made once I head back down to school.)

Enough

My first Illustration Friday submission.

One of the things I detest about summer nights is the fact that when I enter the back door to my parent's home, I am bombarded with a million kinds of moths and beetles.
You can say that I've had, "enough" of it. nyak nyuck nycuk.

Watercolor and Ink on cold press. Done in about 3 hours.
The following three pieces is a series of three riddles I did for Bob Bird's Children's Book Illustration class back in the fall, and I forgot to upload them.

"What do you get when you cross an elephant with a Boy Scout?"

"An elephant who helps old ladies across the street."

(Originally, Granny's shirt would of said "Vegas Baby!" but I thought it might of been over the target audience's head, kinda like every adult joke hidden in old Rugrats' episodes.)
"Why do Squirrels spend all their time in trees?"

"To stay away from the nuts on the ground"

(My teacher thought it was an interesting take on the riddle, being that you have to be nuts to live in a tree.)
" What is the difference between a cat and a comma?"

"One has a pause, the other has paws."

I hit a small rut the past few weeks, but I will be back soon with new work.

Kinda hard to go get good drawing papers when your radiator decides to explode on you.

MLG Logos

These are three of the few logos I had to come up with for
Halo and Gears of War teams on the MLG (Major League Gaming) circuit.
Hopefully I might be getting a summer job with them.
FUN FACT #1: (Spoilers: I don't.)

What I like about these is that it gives me a chance to work on Typography, something that I wasn't too fond of at first.

FUN FACT #2: As of 6/20/08, it turns out the last two teams disbanded.
